What Is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is a multidisciplinary science that encompasses anatomy, biomechanics and physiology. It contributes relevantly to health and wellness as it focuses on studying and maximizing movement and human performance.
How Can a Kinesiologist Help You?
A kinesiologist can make a unique and valuable contribution to your treatment by providing a bridge between clinic-based assessment and treatment to work and community reintegration. Kinesiologists can also benefit employers as they can provide valuable recommendations to prevent worksite injuries and aid in returning employees to work safer and sooner!
Our kinesiologist works cooperatively with many other health-related specialists including physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, massage therapists, etc. to help patients return to their normal lives quickly and cautiously!
Functional Assessments & Return to Work Programs
Functional assessments are a joint effort between the kinesiologist and physical therapist to measure a worker's current physical abilities (post-injury) and compare them to their previous (pre-injury) job demands and daily tasks. Functional assessments are performed for WorkSafeBC cases, but are also available privately when the injury is not part of an approved WorkSafeBC claim, but still prevents you from working.
Our kinesiologist also works one-on-one with ICBC, private insurance companies, employers and health care providers as part of a graduated return to work program for those injured at work or in a vehicle. We also offer job site visits and job demands analysis.
